Wow, its been a while since i’ve been on here, well its Saturday and that means College Football. In some of the 12:00 o’clock games Georgia Tech beat UNC 35-28 in an ACC Coastal Division battle, Notre Dame just beat Pitt 15-12, and Michigan beat Head Coach Brady Hoke’s former team San Diego State 28-7. The slate of afternoon games today is like getting a car on your sixteenth birthday( which i did not get lol). FSU and Klempson ( yes i spelled it that way on purpose) is having an ACC Atlantic Divisional matchup on ABC or ESPN depending on your region. The other game on ESPN is Oklahoma State vs Texas A&M, this should be an exciting high scoring matchup. And the biggest SEC matchup today is Alabama going up against Arkansas on CBS. All of those games are at 3:30, it should be a fun afternoon to say the least.
Sorry iv’e been away so long, the NFL is getting more exciting as each week passes. There have been many Pre-Season games so far as teams try to shrink their roster until the last week. It is certainly nice to have football back even if it is just pre-season games at the moment. Even though the season is upon us, there are still two major players who have not settled their contracts. Larry Fitzgerald has signed a contract but wants an extension, if he doesn’t get the extension he could become a free agent and would be a blockbuster player on the market. Chris Johnson has still not signed a contract, Johnson wants money that is above the elite running backs in the league. Johnson will not report back to the team untill he gets the amount of money he wants. The Titans have said they are willing to make him the highest paid running back in the NFL but they have not made an offer yet. In College Football news all teams have started practice but the news recently has not been about roster changes but Conference realignment. It was reported that Texas A&M was going to the SEC, but that has not happened. I would not be surprised if the aggies try to make the switch soon. Texas A&M has been upset with the newly founded Longhorn network as it greatly promotes the University of Texas. Missouri has also been rumored to make the switch but that was denied by the University. It was also reported that Florida State and Clemson were going to be invited as well. Both teams could pursue the switch but personally i dont think Clemson would ever have an overall winning record in the SEC and wouldnt last at all. The reason the SEC is trying to expand is most likely to compete with the newly expand BIG 10 and Pac 12. This is understandable as the SEC has been dominant in College Football and probably wants to keep it that way. Inside the SEC the Arkansas Razorbacks suffered a serious blow as Knile Davis suffered a season ending injury this past week. Davis was arguably the best back in the Conference. Football is almost here and the excitment is in the air. check back into the blog soon.
to wrap the night up ill share some interesting headlines. The Number One Draft Pick Cam Newton was signed today by the Carolina Panthers for a four year 22 million doller contract. I personally think Cam Newton could make a minor impact this season because even though the lockout is over he has been training with former NFL QB Chris Weinke at IMG sports, having said that he still has a long way to go until he can be an NFL starting Quarterback. After the Eagles signed their star Corner Back they also signed Vince Young to a one year deal. Some of you may know that Young has gone downhill since last season, but the Eagles are the organization to give second chances as we can all see from Mike Vick’s comeback. In MLB news the trade deadline is coming upon us and tonight the Phillies recieved Hunter Pence by giving away four highly rated prospects, also Albert Pujols had his 2,000 hit today in a 9-2 win over the Cubs. Before the trade deadline ends players like Heath Bell are expected to be traded. In Golf Tiger Woods has said he plans to play in the PGA Championship the last Major of 2011. And Finally earlier in the week Bob Bradly was fired as U.S. Mens National Soccer Coach, and Juergen Klinsmann was hired, his has very little time to prepare for the next match as the U.S. hosts Mexico on August 10. Thats it for tonight guys, check back in to the blog whenever you can.
Alright guys here’s my first post, I got this idea from my friend Harrison Rogers who has his own sports blog called thehulksportstalk.tumblr.com so please check it out, if you are a die hard MLB fan he is someone you can have a detailed discussion with as well. Right now the NFL is in the middle of Free Agency mayhem, yesterday Albert Haynesworth was traded to the patriots for a fifth round draft pick and Chad Ochocinco signed with the Pats as well. Some other notable signings were Donovan Mcnabb to the Vikings, Sidney Rice to the Seahawks, Greg Olsen to the Panthers, Kevin Kolb to the Cardinals, and Reggie Bush to the Dolphins. Also just announced in the past few minutes the Eagles have signed Corner Back Nnamdi Asomugha to a five year 60 million deal! There’s a lot going on in the sports world right now so please come back and check the blog for your sports updates.
